Product Details

The magnet isn't what wrecks your paint. The grit under it is. A magnetic mount clamps down hard, and any dust trapped underneath gets ground into your clear coat every time the vehicle moves. These discs go on first. The magnet sits on top. The film takes the wear instead of the paint.

Set of 4 — one vehicle. Most Starlink Mini magnetic mounts have three or four feet.

Fitting: wash and dry the spot, then wipe with isopropyl alcohol. Apply the adhesion promoter and let it dry off. Peel the backing, lay the disc down from one edge and smooth outward with your thumb. Leave it [24 hrs — TBC] before loading the magnet on. Wipe the top of the disc before every mount — grit on the film is still grit.

Removal: warm it with a hairdryer, peel slow. Any residue cleans up with isopropyl.

Film: clear polyurethane paint protection film (PPF), the same type detailers use on bonnets. Optically clear, doesn't yellow, made to be removed without damaging what's underneath.

Installation & Maintenance

1. Pick a flat, smooth spot on your roof with a clear view of the sky.

2. Clean the area with the included alcohol wipe and let it dry.

3. Sit your mount on the roof, mark where the magnets land, then line up the discs.

4. Peel the backing, press each disc down hard, and leave it to cure. Give it 24 hours before heavy use.

Maintenance: none needed. To remove later, take it slow with a bit of heat and some adhesive remover — no holes, no damage.

What are the steel discs for?

Magnets only stick to steel. Most modern caravans, pop-tops and campervans have fibreglass, aluminium or composite roofs —

so a magnetic mount has nothing to grab. Stick these down and your mount holds like it's on a steel roof.

How do I know if I need them?

Hold a fridge magnet to your roof. If it doesn't stick, you need the discs.

Will they actually hold my Starlink Mini?

Yes. Four discs give the VANKOR magnetic mount a full-strength hold — same grip as landing straight on steel.

How do they attach?

Industrial 3M adhesive. Clean the spot with the included wipe, run the prep stick over it, peel the backing, press down hard and leave it to cure. No drilling.
